If god were really all knowing?

Then surely he would have known that most people would need more than just a loosely translated book to believe that he were real. Which leads me to the conclusion that he is (unlike the bible says) evil; because according to the bible, if you don't believe in god then you go to hell. So god basically wants most people to go to hell. Why else would he create us this way?
