Can my employer give me 1 weeks notice after I give them 1 month?

Basically it says that if they sack you you get a weeks notice, if you hand in your notice but after a few days you start to piss about because you know your going they will just sack you and you one month notice turns into one week. so essentially even if you quit they can still sack you.
